FAQ

Custom bar coasters questions, answered.

Everything buyers ask before they order — minimums, timings, artwork and print options.

What is the minimum order?

Just 12 packs of mats — one bar’s trial is a completely normal order — with tiers that fall steeply through case, pallet and season quantities.

How fast will my custom bar coasters arrive?

Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and finished mats ship in about 2 weeks from your approved proof, with real express available for launch and festival dates.

Why do bar coasters curl?

Because a beer mat only ever gets wet on one face. Pulpboard absorbs through its top surface, that face swells, the dry underside does not, and the mat cups into a shallow dish — often within minutes of the first spill. It cannot be eliminated on an absorbent board, but board choice and grain direction control most of it, and both are stated on our quotes. Wet the top of any mat you own and look at the corners ten minutes later; that is the whole test.

What board do you use?

Board quoted as two numbers rather than one adjective: grammage, which is how much board there is by weight, and caliper, which is how thick it is. You need both, because a compressed board and a bulky one can weigh the same and behave completely differently under a wet glass. Anyone offering only ‘standard’ and ‘premium’ is quoting a price tier, not a board.

Do you print both sides?

Yes, as standard, and we would argue about it if you did not want to. A bar coaster is the only piece of print in a venue that a customer picks up, turns over and reads while waiting — leaving that face blank gives it away for nothing. The reverse is read close up by somebody with time, so unlike the front it can carry real words.

Can you cut a custom shape?

Yes — squares, rounded rectangles and full die-cut outlines to your own artwork, proofed on the die line with bleed and safe area marked. The practical limit is that long thin protrusions and needle-sharp points do not survive on wet pulpboard; they fur and fold. We will flag any point we would like to radius and show you what happens if we do not.

Do you offer recycled or compostable board?

Yes, with the fibre percentage or the composting certification and its standard written on the quote, and with inks and coatings chosen so the claim survives the finishing. We would rather hand you a sentence your legal team will sign off than a green leaf printed in the corner.

Do you make cork, stone, wood or neoprene coasters?

No. Solid cork coasters, stone and slate coasters, wooden and ceramic coasters and neoprene drink mats each have their own specialist — several inside our own family of makers — and we will point you to the right one. Everything here is printed pulpboard, made to be used and thrown away.
